A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for Friday 12th August 2016.
Police have arrested a man following a pursuit through Marske yesterday afternoon.
Officers from the Cleveland and Durham Road Policing Unit attempted to pull over a Renault Scenic vehicle however the driver refused to stop, and a pursuit occurred through Marske.
The driver was suspected to have been involved in a theft of motor vehicle.
After a short pursuit the driver of the Renault did eventually pull over for police. He was immediately arrested for theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving with no documents, possession of cannabis and for failing a roadside drug test.
The driver was then detained for questioning by detectives.
Redcar Lifeboat was called into action yesterday morning following reports of a person in the sea.
Just before 4am yesterday morning lifeboat crews responded to reports that a person was in distress in the sea at Redcar.
However the launch of the lifeboat was cancelled after the person was rescued from the sea by police officers.
Officers are appealing for information after a road traffic collision in Middlesbrough.
At 6.40pm on Saturday a grey Renault Clio and a black BMW X5 collided at the junctions of Ayresome Street, Ayresome Green Lane and Acklam Road in Middlesbrough.
No one was injured in the incident.
The black BMW left the scene towards Roman Road prior to police arrival and it is believed four young males were in the car at the time. The vehicle sustained front end damage as a result of the collision.
Police would like the driver of the BMW to come forward. Anyone with information regarding the collision or anyone who witnessed it is asked to contact PC Mark Pearson from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101.
