A Redcar mother and her baby have had a lucky escape after a kitchen dishwasher caught fire.
The woman, in her 30s, and her baby boy had to flee from their home on Lincoln Road in Redcar after the blaze which occurred at around 10.15pm on Monday.
Two fire crews from Redcar Fire Station used breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to help them tackle the flames.
The fire destroyed the dishwasher as well as causing extensive smoke damage to the property.
Both the woman and her baby were unhurt in the incident.
Police are appealing for information after a woman was hit by a car in Middlesbrough on Saturday.
The incident involved a BMW 320D and a 40-year-old female pedestrian at around twenty past two on Saturday on Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough.
As a result of the collision, the woman was taken to James Cook University Hospital with head injuries and a fractured pelvis. She remains in hospital however her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to stop, dangerous driving, no insurance and for not having a driving licence. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked PC Andrew Overton from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 136883.
Gourmet scotch eggs made by a local Redcar company have won the seal of approval from Dragons’ Den business tycoon Theo Paphitis.
The delicacies are produced by The Clucking Pig, which is a company ran by former police officer David Laing, and his wife Christine, who is a former Disney Cruise Line security manager.
Theo’s backing has led to a double celebration for the company as David and his small dedicated team are about to hit a mammoth sales achievement – they’re on target to sell 40,000 scotch eggs this year alone!
David and Christine’s culinary creations were spotted by TV Dragon, entrepreneur and business mentor Theo who shared details of their business with his half a million Twitter followers, and awarded The Clucking Pig a Small Business SundayAward.
They are now part of Theo’s exclusive business network where like-minded individuals can share their experiences and their successes.
