A man accused of a double murder in Redcar has appeared in court.
34-year-old Alan Bennett, of Lingholme, in Redcar is accused of murdering Lynne Freeman and Jodie Betteridge on March 23rd this year.
Mr Bennett appeared at Teesside Crown Court yesterday morning via video link from Holme House Prison.
He has not yet entered any pleas to the charges.
His case is listed for trial to start on the 28th September this year.
Judge Simon Bourne-Arton QC, the Recorder of Middlesbrough, remanded Bennett in custody until a further hearing on July 28th.
Police are appealing for information after a bike was stolen from outside the Boyes Store in Guisborough at the weekend.
The Focus Sam mountain bike was stolen from outside Boyes store in Westgate at around quarter to one on Sunday.

Wilton based chemical company SABIC are celebrating after being named Company of the Year by the Chemical Industries Association in recognition of its demonstrated business growth and sustained contribution to the economy.
The company has made a range of major, sustained investments including the current Gas Cracking Project to the Olefins plant at Wilton, plus a conversion to take US shale gas will safeguard thousands of Teesside jobs whilst securing the company's long-term future in the region.
SABIC employs 600 staff and an additional 400 contractors at the Wilton and North Tees sites, whilst thousands more Teesside jobs are reliant on the company within the wider supply chain, bringing around £400 million into the economy from payroll, utilities, goods and services.
Commenting on giving the award at a ceremony held recently in Liverpool, the Chemical Industries Association said that after a period of restructuring, SABIC was strengthening its UK operations with significant investment that will improve the competitiveness of the site. It continues to demonstrate its commitment to the UK whilst working closely with its stakeholders and the local community.
