A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for 23rd March 2016

Police have released CCTV footage of a man that they think may be able to help with their enquiries in relation to a reported theft from a motor vehicle in Redcar.

The incident happened at an address on Corporation Road, Redcar, at around 2.35am on Saturday.

A small amount of money was taken from the vehicle.

In Redcar and Cleveland over the last month, there have been 63 incidents reported to police of thefts from motor vehicles.

Officers would like to remind people to keep their vehicle doors secure and not to keep valuables where anyone walking by can see them.

You can view the CCTV footage on the Zetland FM Facebook page, and if you think you may know the identity of the man in the footage you are asked to contact DC Lindsay Forbes from Redcar and Cleveland Volume Crime Team on the non-emergency number 101 or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Pupils from Lakes Primary School in Redcar launched a campaign to encourage residents across the borough to recycle more of their waste.

The ‘Check it before you chuck it’ campaign was launched at the school yesterday with recycling staff putting the youngsters through their paces on what can and cannot be recycled.

The initiative encourages the public to think about what they recycle to ensure they are recycling as much as possible and that it is going in the right recycling bin.

In Redcar & Cleveland we currently recycle 47% of our waste which is the highest rate in Teesside and slightly above the national average.

Although these figures are encouraging we are still being urged to recycle more.

A mouthwatering local derby clash featuring two of our areas football teams takes place this evening.

Guisborough Town FC take on Marske United in the semi-final of the North Riding Senior Cup tonight, and both the Priorymen and the Seasiders are taking the match extremely seriously.

The match was originally due to take place a fortnight ago, however the pitch at the KGV Stadium was waterlogged and the game had to be postponed.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm  at the King George V Stadium on Howlbeck Road in Guisborough.
