A local football club is appealing for the public's assistance following a break in at the weekend.

The club house at Guisborough Town Football Club was broken into overnight Friday into Saturday causing considerable damage.

The thieves stole a large quantity of alcohol including boxes and bottles of echo falls, 1.5 litre, 70 cl and 1 litre bottles of spirits including Chekov vodka.

Inspiration women from across our area were recognised at an awards ceremony at the weekend.

The Bellamy Pavilion at Kirkleatham Old Hall Museum was the venue for the first 'Inspiring Women in Redcar and Cleveland Awards', which were set up in memory of former Redcar MP Mo Mowlem to recognise women who make a valuable contribution to our community.

The ceremony was hosted by Zetland FM's mid-morning presenter Julie Donaldson, with Redcar MP Anna Turley revealing the winners and handing over the awards.

The event culminated in the presentation of the prestigious Mo Mowlam award, which was given to Redcar solicitor Stacey Phoenix, who earlier in the ceremony had received the 'Community Contribution' award for her tireless work on behalf of under-represented groups and individuals in and around our area.

Stacey told Zetland FM that she was wasn't expecting to win anything:

 

 

In local football there was a surprise 2-nil home defeat for Guisborough Town at the hands of Bishop Auckland, which ended the Priorymen's proud record of being the only team unbeaten at home in the entire EBAC league so far this season.

Meanwhile Redcar Athletic took the game to Cleator Moor Celtic from the off on Saturday. Athletic saw a goal from Michael Woodhouse in the first half, and further goals from Chris Atkinson and Andy Jennings in the second half which clinched a victory for Redcar.

The final score Cleator Moor Celtic 2, Redcar Athletic 3.
